BTC

BTC, short for Bitcoin, is the first and most well-known cryptocurrency, operating on a decentralized network utilizing blockchain technology.

Bitcoin (BTC) was introduced in 2009 as a decentralized digital currency that allows peer-to-peer transactions without the need for intermediaries like banks. It operates on a technology called blockchain, which securely records all transactions across a distributed ledger. Each transaction is verified by network participants, ensuring transparency and security.

The total supply of Bitcoin is capped at 21 million coins, a feature designed to introduce scarcity akin to precious metals. Bitcoin's mining process, where miners solve complex mathematical problems to validate transactions and mint new coins, is integral to its operation. For example, when a miner successfully adds a new block to the chain, they are rewarded with newly created BTC and transaction fees from the included transactions.

Bitcoin is often regarded as digital gold due to its limited supply and deflationary nature. Its rise has led to the development of various altcoins and a diverse range of use cases in the cryptocurrency ecosystem, encompassing payment solutions, investment vehicles, and decentralized applications.
