Pipette

A pipette is a fractional price movement in forex trading, typically equating to one-tenth of a pip. It allows for more precise pricing references in currency pairs.

A pipette is an additional decimal place in the pricing of a currency pair, representing a fraction of a pip. In most forex pairs, a pip represents a change of 0.0001, while a pipette represents a change of 0.00001. This finer granularity can be of particular importance in highly volatile market conditions, where even small price changes can impact trading strategies. For instance, if the EUR/USD pair moves from 1.12000 to 1.12001, that single unit change is a pipette.

Understanding pipettes is essential for traders aiming for precise entry and exit points, particularly when engaging in scalping or high-frequency trading strategies. In many trading platforms, currency pairs may display prices with pipette values, allowing traders to take full advantage of these minor fluctuations. Moreover, recognizing pipettes as part of the price structure aids in developing a comprehensive approach to spread, risk management, and overall trading strategy.
