DeFi

Decentralized Finance (DeFi) refers to a financial system built on blockchain technology that operates without traditional intermediaries, enabling peer-to-peer transactions.

Decentralized Finance, commonly known as DeFi, is a rapidly evolving sector within the blockchain ecosystem that aims to recreate and improve upon conventional financial systems through the use of decentralized networks. Typically, DeFi platforms utilize smart contracts on blockchain technologies like Ethereum to enable financial services such as lending, borrowing, trading, and earning interest without the need for central authorities or intermediaries.

For instance, a user can lend their cryptocurrency on a DeFi platform and earn interest, while another borrower can access funds directly from the lender, facilitated by smart contracts that automate the process and ensure compliance with predetermined terms. This eliminates the need for banks or other intermediaries, thereby reducing costs and increasing efficiency.

DeFi also encompasses a range of related concepts, including yield farming, liquidity pools, and governance tokens, which allow participants to have a say in the development of the platforms they engage with. Overall, DeFi represents a significant shift toward more accessible, transparent, and efficient financial services.
