What is a quote currency?

A quote currency is the second currency in a currency pair used in Forex trading. It represents the value of one unit of the base currency, which is the first currency in the pair. For example, in the EUR/USD pair, USD is the quote currency. When the exchange rate is expressed as EUR/USD = 1.25, it means that one euro can be exchanged for 1.25 US dollars. The quote currency is essential for understanding how much of it is required to purchase the base currency, thereby allowing traders to assess market movements and trading opportunities. Generally, fluctuations in the quote currency can influence trade positions and overall market strategies.
