Balance

In trading, balance refers to the net difference between the total deposits and withdrawals in a trading account, reflecting the available funds for trading activities.

In the context of trading accounts, balance is a fundamental metric that represents the total amount of funds available for trading after all deposits and withdrawals have been accounted for. It serves as an important indicator of an account's overall financial position, providing traders with insight into the current capital available for executing trades, covering margin requirements, or withdrawing funds.

For instance, if a trader deposits $1,000 and subsequently withdraws $300, their balance would typically be $700. Balance is distinct from equity, which takes into account open positions and unrealized profits or losses. Understanding the concept of balance is crucial because it helps traders manage their accounts effectively, ensuring they maintain sufficient funds for their trading strategies.

Related concepts include equity, used margin, and free margin, which all relate to the funds' available for trading and the impact of open positions on a trader's financial status within their trading account.
