Arbitrage Opportunity

An arbitrage opportunity occurs when a trader can exploit price differences between markets or assets to generate a profit with minimal risk.

Arbitrage involves taking advantage of price discrepancies in different markets or exchanges, allowing traders to buy low in one location and sell high in another. This practice is often seen in Forex, where currency pairs may be mispriced across various trading platforms due to differences in supply and demand dynamics. For instance, if the EUR/USD pair is quoted at 1.1000 on one exchange and 1.1010 on another, a trader can buy EUR/USD on the first exchange and sell it on the second, securing a profit of 10 pips per unit without exposure to market risk.

This concept is not limited to Forex but extends to various financial instruments, including stocks, commodities, and cryptocurrencies. Related concepts include market efficiency, where arbitrage opportunities typically diminish quickly as traders act on them, driving prices towards equilibrium. While arbitrage can yield profits, it requires speed, substantial capital, and a good understanding of transaction costs, as these can erode potential gains.
